Demand for Residential Developments in the Jurong East Central Area Continues to Rise

Demand for residential developments in the Jurong East Central area of Singapore continues to rise as potential new launches are on the horizon. The area has seen a lack of new condo launches in recent years, fuelling the demand for housing in the region.

The Singapore government is also planning to bring new homes, along with new businesses, recreational facilities and amenities to the Jurong Lake District (JLD), with the redevelopment of CapitaLand Development’s JCube site into JCube Residence. This new development is slated for completion in 2027, with the potential launch of residential units expected to be in the second half of 2023.

The JCube Residence redevelopment will complement the Singapore government’s plans to bring new homes, along with new businesses, recreational facilities and amenities to the JLD. JCube Condo Development Sparks Closure of Jurong East Shopping Mall, Leaving Tenants in the Dark

The closure of Jurong East Shopping Mall has come as a surprise to many of its tenants. The mall was slated to close at the end of October to make way for the construction of a condominium, JCube. The condominium, developed by a joint venture between Far East Organization and Sustained Land, is part of the Jurong Gateway transformation.

The sudden announcement of the closure has left many of the mall’s tenants in the dark about their futures. The mall has been a popular destination for shoppers in the area since it opened in 1995. It housed over 200 stores, from fashion retailers to food and beverage outlets. Many of these stores had been in the mall for decades and had built up a loyal customer base.
